I really wanted to get "Absolute Blackest Night" just to get the "interweaving" storyline in proper order and to look at the art in oversized format - but the prices are ridiculous ( I should have bought it 5 years ago ! ) and so "settled" for the Omnibus instead. But DC is in the business of making money, so you can't just simp ly kill off some of your major/minor characters and leave them dead. Of course "Blackest Night" had to be a let down ( too many things going on -but what glorious art-work ) and a very unsatisfactory cop-out "Brightest Day" ending. These are the comics that made me want to start collecting superhero comics again ( I gave up after being disgusted with the Claremont/Romita Jr run on X-Men ). The highlight of Geoff John's fantastic run on Green Lantern: The Introduction of the Alpha Lanterns, Secret Origin ( a reboot of the Abin-Sur /Hal Jordan origin story with a nod to Alan Moore's "Tyger's" to set-up Blackest Night ), then the glorious "Rage of the Red Lanterns" and "Agent Orange" to introduce the "War of Light" - the most brilliant story arc in all of Green Lantern's storied history.
