Meghan Ciana Doidge is one of the few storytellers who pushes the love story up front and center with After The Virus. Some do it by cramming it into a high action, gore splattered story, while others let it flow more gradually into the mix, letting it germinate based on circumstances surrounding the characters-people pushed together and sharing the horrors that surround one another, so they come together to push back the nightmares. Quite a few post apocalyptic novels have attempted to inject love and romance into their pages. This book has 184,410 words, 354 pages in the PDF version, and was originally published in 1831. Part of Anne Haight's List of Banned Books. The book was so popular when it was first published that it led to a movement aimed at preserving historical buildings. Another important aspect of Notre-Dame de Paris, is the way it shows the whole of Parisian life - everyone from paupers to the King. This importance was undermined slightly when the first translation came out and the translated title shifted focus onto Quasimodo. The title of the book gives a nod to the fact that Hugo was upset at the disrepair the Notre-Dame cathedral had fallen into - and indeed, architecture and the cathedral are the most important aspects of the book. Frollo, in his lust for Esmeralda, causes all manner of tragedy to befall her suitors, but the biggest tragedy lies in wait for Esmeralda herself. These include Captain Phoebus and Pierre Gringoire, Archdeacon Claude Frollo, and the bellringer Quasimodo. A gothic novel set in Paris in 1482 that tells the story of the beautiful Esmeralda and the many men who are interested in her. Perhaps not surprisingly in a collection of this kind, the quality is uneven some of the chapters are decidedly slight, while others lack analytical depth. Rather, the book reflects Lynch’s more recent interest in the royal court, and its significance to Edinburgh in the reign of James VI, as well as the interdependence of political, religious, and cultural history and the ways in which each can illuminate the others. This is perhaps an accurate reflection of where Lynch’s own interests primarily lie, as is the fact that very few of the contributions are essays in urban history as such-the field in which Lynch initially made his name with his magisterial work on Edinburgh and the Reformation (Edinburgh, 1981). The book’s core is the four decades immediately following the Protestant Reformation and serves as the focus of twelve chapters. Its eighteen chapters cover what the editors call the long sixteenth century, from 1500 to 1650, but there are only three contributions relating to the period before the Reformation of 1560 and three on the period after the Union of Anglo-Scottish Crowns in 1603. Michael Lynch retired from the Sir William Fraser Chair of Scottish History at the University of Edinburgh in 2005 and this hefty, handsome, and meticulously edited volume is a tribute from his friends, colleagues, and former students to his impact on the study of Reformation Scotland. I can't wait for everyone to visit the Legendborn world, which is not too far off from our own. I was also inspired by the legend of King Arthur, of course, but in particular the way that Susan Cooper extended the legend for her own contemporary fantasy series, the classic "The Dark is Rising Sequence." There are lots of unexplained, magical experiences in my family history, specifically around the women in my family, and I folded these events together with inspiration from African-American folk magic to create Legendborn's #BlackGirlMagic mythology. First and foremost, I was inspired by my own grief journey after the passing of my mother - we often look for stories in loss, and Legendborn is part of the story I told myself. Yet this book provides such a compelling logic to understand the stocks that one will find it to be better than most of the quant dominated stocks books. You'll hardly come across any mathematical formulas in Fisher's analysis. But be warned as these techniques are not as easy to practice. Of course, Fisher's scuttlebutt technique and his 15 points for stock selection provide immense insights into the analysis style of Fisher. For example: Should one sell if his stock has reached insane valuations so as to purchase it later at lower prices? Or how important is the dividend yield when considering a stock for long term? Moreover, the book discusses several puzzling situations which a long term investor often comes across, especially when the markets are volatile. Fisher's investing philosophy is focused on investing in potential blue chips when they are still small thereby resulting in huge gains. The book will help you to find future blue chips.
